The Move Has Begun ...

Today our pickup with a cabful of pots and pans and sewing machines and tools and a bed loaded with a Baker's Choice stove and five-gallon buckets of foodstuffs was loaded on a barge headed for the island. It should arrive by April 10th.

  1. That's an exciting move. Our home is water access only. Fortunately we bought our cabin already furnished, but getting a new fridge, stove and sofa up the lake by boat were a challenge. - Margy

  2. If the cannery on Adak gets going again, there will be regular barge traffic--otherwise it depends upon government and university workers doing cleanup or research. Luckily there is left behind furnishings from the Navy sold by the Aleut Corporation--beds, furniture, appliances. So we only need to bring food, cookware, clothing bedding and personal effects. However, simplifying one's life is vital. USPS shipping is exorbitant and the mail only flies in twice a week.

Thank you for your comment and your blog is most interesting.
